Invitated by AKSP Seigokan of Portugal, dislocates to our Country a Delegation of the Japan Seigokan Overseas Headquarters, composed by Masatomi Tsuji Shihan (8th Dan), Seigokan Overseas Head Director, Murata Shinsaku Shihan (8th Dan), Seigokan Director and Overseas Instructor and Koichi Nakano (5th Dan), General Secretary of Overseas Department. It is the biggest Delegation of Japanese Masters to visit Portugal, since the coming of Hanshi Nakamoto (10th Dan), from Okinawa, in 2006. To enhance that such Masters, are the more graduated Masters of the style Goju-Ryu Seigokan Karatedo. Therefore it is not foresee superior graduation to 8th Dan, once have been the graduation of Great Master Seigo Tada when passed away, in 1997. The related Delegation will be about one week in Portugal, from May 18 to May 25, where it will give an International Seigokan Seminar in May 24, will do Dan Grading Tests and will visit all the Dojos of Seigokan in Portugal. It will equally be realized one Gala Dinner, in the Event of the Commemorations of the 34º Anniversary of Seigokan in Portugal, May, 23 about 20H00pm, in the Restaurant “Quinta da Vitória”, in Sobreda, Almada. After visited Portugal, the related Delegation will visit Italy, to officially recognize the Dojo of Seigokan Italy of the Shihan Francesco Cuzzocrea in Reggio Calabria, followed by the Seigokan Head Chief for Portugal and Europe, Shihan Jose Santana. ![]() João Salgado, current President of the National Karate Federation of Portugal (FNKP) and Honorary President of the Seigokan Karatedo Association of Portugal (AKSP), was elected in the past day 2 of March member Reporter of the Statutory audit committee of the Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) for Triennial 2009 – 2012 in the list presided by Commander Vicente Moura. Portugal conquered 3 Bronze Medals in the last European Championship of Cadets and Juniors (Sub-21) disputed in Paris, France, in the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium. Congratulations for the athletes, their trainers and for the current leadership of the National Karate Federation of Portugal (FNK-P). Last November took place the 19th World Karate Championship in Tokyo and João Salgado (a former member of Portugal Seigokan) as National Karate Federation of Portugal President went there with the Portuguese Team and met Masatomi Tsuji Shihan, Seigokan Overseas Head Director. A delegation of AKSP Seigokan Portugal, composed by Luís Gonçalves (1st Dan), Ricardo Correia (2nd Dan) and led by Shihan Jose Santana (6ºDan), Seigokan Head Chief Instructor for Portugal and Europe, dislocates October 18 to Reggio Calabria, in Italy, to help Sensei Francesco Cuzzocrea in its process of adhesion to Seigokan. Francesco Cuzzocrea was one of the first pupils of Sensei Tatsuto Sadanobu that in 1974 introduced this traditional style of karatedo in Italy, sent by the Honbu Dojo of Seigokan and for the proper Seigo Tada Hanshi with intention to divulge and to expand this martial art beyond borders, nominated in Italy. The Portuguese Delegation that will be there three days, stops beyond promoting the 1st International Stage of Seigokan in that country and will offer to the future official member of Seigokan the flag of Seigokan Italy, in a fraternity gesture, that certainly will be strengthened throughout the years, with other periods of training, International Championships and comradeship. ![]() It is with great sadness to inform you that one of our senior member of Seigokan has passed away yesterday (2008-09-23). Mr Jose Martins ACHIAM (1944-2008) passed away in the morning after suffering from a severe stroke. Mr Achiam (7th Dan) joined Seigokan in 1967 and was an Executive Committee member of World Karate Federation (WKF), Secretary-General of Asian Karatedo Federation (AKF), President of Macau Karatedo Federation, Director & Overseas Head Director (Macau) of Japan Seigokan. He will be remembered for his more than 40 years contribution in karatedo and may he rest in peace. Last July, 20 and 21, took place the 63th Anniversary and Championship of Seigokan in Himeji, Hyogo Budokan. Portugal was represented with a small AKSP Seigokan Delegation composed by his President Altino Morais, his National Technical Director José Santana and two young Senpais, Ana Jorne and Gonçalo Fernandes. Santana and Altino Senseis done examination for 6th and 4th Dan, respectively. The great new of this year was the nomination of Santana Shihan to Seigokan Chief Instructor for Portugal and Europe, by the Seigokan Honbu Dojo Head Directory Staff. Shochugeiko AKSP 2008 06/23/2008
